CSPI Chemical Cuisine

What is it?

Over the past few years several apps have popped up to help consumers figure out what is in their food and the question if they should eat it. But last year the Center for Science in the Public Interest released the Chemical Cuisine. Chemical Cuisine is an app for Iphone and Andrioid and it exclusively explains all the additives that is in our food. For all this information the CSPI did research on the data on more than 120 food additives. Chemical Cuisine is nog like many other consumer apps. This app is made for the people who don’t have a lot of time, but still want to do their shopping being aware of the food and with a healty set mind.  This app is especially made for these people, with this app you can do your quick and healthy shopping.

Why is it cool?

It is cool because people don’t know much about the additives in food. There are a lot of ingredients used in our food that we don’t know of. With this app you can get more information about those additives and get more healthier and sustainable food. This app gives you transparency because we see all those numbers and names on the packaging of food and we don’t know why they are used and what they do with our food. This app shows many dangerous chemical additives that are still in food on the shelves of the supermarket.  CSPI found yellow dye in Doritos and Velveta which causes tumors in the adrenal gland and kidney. With this app you get more knownledge about the food and it gives you an opportunity to make healtier and better choices.
